What is an alternative to short toe pedals? I find it hard to start on my road bike and get my foot in

I'm new to road biking. The toe straps seemed really cool at first, as they do keep the ball of the foot where its supposed to be and it certainly helps increase power while pedaling. But I'll eventually try to kill me to put my feet in those damn things while traffic is flying behind me. What is the alternative to toe straps that will give me the very creation surefooted, but without mastering the art of getting my feet in the straps crazy? : O) and yeah, I mean, are there lower prices Clipless Pedals?

Hello, As a poster before me mentioned, clip pedals less is what you need. Search Shimano SPD, they are very good. You can find road bike shoes very uncomfortable to walk (especially when you install the studs) and my suggestion is to buy mountain bike shoes instead. When you go to your local bike shop, just try some of them and choose those that are more comfortable. Spd Pedals are not usually used on road bikes but again, I think they are more easy to clip in and out during peak traffic than most pedals road bike. Good luck and before pressing traffic practice your new shoes pedals / a safe place. Most people cut down everything in it is going very slowly (uphill, traffic lights, etc.) - with a little practice you should be much safer there. Before you know it you'll never want to go back to regular flat pedals and cuts will force reflex. Good Luckily, Volodya
