How do they run so fast?

This may be a dumb question so bare with me if it is, how do bike riders racing so fast? I went a criterion in recent times and their average speed was 34 mph! I have a trek without toe clips / machines, etc. pedals and I'm lucky if I hit 18 mph. Clipless Pedals are not really that big of a difference? do they get into a group / project? how do they do it! AC I wonder too .... they even do up! How do they do that? It's pretty simple. They are in terrific shape! Can maintain the a rate in the range 90 + in all dealings. You and I can maintain this rate (if we can) at the end of the decline of our gear (gear). They can do in their top end gear too! They use writing to conserve energy and speed. The platoon creates conditions that allow a group of riders to go faster at a time, and with much less energy, a single rider. Clipless pedals are another problem. Yes they are terribly effective. It not only allows you to maintain a constant contact with the pedals, but it allows you to pull up and push your pedal strokes. It takes some practice, but can be easily controlled ..... If you ever have a chance to watch a race circuit on a journey where they have hills and apartments ... walk around the circuit and see the techniques and speed / power they may have.
