Clip Pedals Bike

Recommend bike pedals w / strap feet wide with sandals or boots.?

I just got a new hybrid road bike /. It came with small and cheap pedals. I'm used to large solid pedals old school, but now I want to try pedals a clip or a strap or other it is called. There are many options out there and I do not want to pay big money. Another is that I do not really shoes. My feet wide too hot during the warmer months. So I want a pedal and bracelet set-up of little comfort. But then, in the fall, I need to be able to wear boots or at least to hikers to cope with snow and cold. (I do not bike all winter, but I could.) Any ideas.
